MARTIN KASIK, piano. Martin is an outstanding young Czech pianist who has won many prizes,
including the prestigious New York Young Concert Artists Competition, where he was also awarded the Pasadena
Symphony Soloist prize. Other honours include First Prize in the Prague Spring Competition, the Akzo Nobel Prize
and the Davidoff Prize. He has recorded for Czech, German, Swedish and Missouri Radio and for Czech Television. He
has made five CDs and his disc, “Martin Kasik – live from Prague” featuring works by Schumann and Rachmaninoff was
awarded the highest rating in the French musical magazine “Repertoire”. The first part of his concert tonight is
honouring Chopin's double centenary this year.
